For more than 60 years, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has applied science and technology to make the world a safer place.

We have an opening for an undergraduate-level student or recent graduate level student with a bachelor’s degree to engage in practical business experience to further their educational goals. Under close supervision, the student intern will provide entry to mid-level administrative support to the Computational Engineering Division (CED) Summer Scholar Program as well as assist other areas as needed.

Essential Duties
At the Undergraduate Level (Non-Exempt):
- This position will work alongside the CED Summer Scholar Program Coordinator to provide support to the CED summer intern program and other areas within the Division.
- Assist administrative staff with various projects and activities.
- With guidance compose correspondence for staff, as well as prepare, type, edit, format and finalize presentation materials.
- Establish and maintain working files.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
In Addition at the Recent Grad Level (Exempt):
- Perform assignments of a basic degree of complexity and provide advanced support to the CED summer intern program and other areas within the Division.

Qualifications
At the Undergraduate Level (Non-Exempt):
- Must be a continuing college or university student in good standing at an accredited institution pursuing an undergraduate degree in business or a related field.
- Effective organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy and follow-through.
- Experience working under limited supervision, in an environment of rapidly changing priorities, deadlines, and frequent interruptions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact with a diverse workforce and represent the organization with all levels of management, internal and external to the Laboratory, using tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills necessary to identify and make recommendations for administrative problems.
- Experience working with personal computers and familiarity with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
In Addition at the Recent Grad Level (Exempt):
- Must have received a recent Bachelor’s degree within one year.
- Demonstrated academic achievement.

Desired Qualifications
- GPA of 3.5 or above

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.  This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Note:   This is a Temporary Student Intern appointment.  This assignment is for (Choose one or more of the following: a full-time position during the summer academic break; a co-op position, full-time during the academic semester/quarter, or a year-round part-time position during the academic year and full time during academic breaks.)
